What You Should Buy the Bride

We know what you’re thinking. “I already bought her a gift. The Ring. Remember?” Well congratulations on her saying “Yes,” to that gift, but in today’s modern world, it’s not always enough. You’re expected to buy her another token of your love for her.

You can get away with a cheaper gift; just make sure it’s sentimental. Here are some suggestions ranging from budget-friendly to cleaning-out-the-wallet. Tell her you came up with the idea on your own; she’s guaranteed to love any of them.

Pack a picnic for after the wedding.

Buy her a picnic basket, add in two wine glasses, a bottle of wine, non-perishable sweets and snacks and give her a card “reserving” a picnic for two at one of your favorite outdoor date spots. You can even include a “coupon” for an ice cream date following the picnic.

Send her to a spa.

Give her gift certificate to her favorite salon or spa. It can just be for $100, which is often good enough for a massage or manicure and pedicure with tip. Buy some of her favorite body lotions to include with the certificate.

Book a six-month celebration.

Plan an overnight trip. It could just be a short car ride to a neighboring town and a nice dinner out. Send her an “invite” to your six-month anniversary weekend, accompanied with flowers. Just make sure you follow-up on your promises.

Shop for some bling.

OK, you knew this was coming. But buying your bride more jewelry is never going to hurt you—your back account, maybe…but not you. A few months before the wedding, ask her mom and her bridesmaids what she was thinking of wearing as her wedding jewelry and take the friend with the best taste shopping with you. She’ll know what kind of jewelry best compliments your bride’s dress. It can be a necklace, earrings, bracelet or brooch. Make sure her friends don’t let the bride buy her own wedding jewelry and give it to her the night before the wedding. When all of the female guests ask her where she got this fabulous shiny gift, she’ll gush about you and your excellent taste.
